Short Term Program Assistant YPIP/UZYLC

Description

The Program Assistant is responsible for promotion, recruitment, administration, mentorship, support, alumni activity, and follow-on for American Councils programs in Uzbekistan. Programs may include Uzbekistan Youth Leadership Conference and Young Professional Internships programs. As a key member of the American Councils Uzbekistan team, the Program Assistant will also be expected to support and administer daily programming. This position reports to a Program Coordinator and Program Officer, and will also work directly with program staff in Central Asia, Eurasia, and in the Washington, D.C. office of American Councils.

Job duties:

·  Implementing and executing daily task-based and administrative functions related to a wide range of programmatic needs (secondary school programs, university partnerships, private business liasing, office development, and procurement)

· Creating, codifying, and disseminating program and marketing material in English, Russian, and Uzbek.

· Conducting informational meetings for program participants, U.S. Embassy officials, and program stakeholders

· Leading on logistical preparations and meeting schedules for events including program orientations, trainings, or visits by delegations to Uzbekistan

· Arranging travel and working with partners

· Working with participants to obtain and translate documents needed for program participation

· Involving staff of the U.S. Embassy and representatives of the Government of Uzbekistan as appropriate in program activities

· Traveling for recruitment, project events and monitoring, and training conferences as necessary (10%-50%)

· Engaging in project design and consultation, quarterly monitoring and evaluation, and donor reporting

· Communicating with alumni and supporting alumni events and programming; and

· Working on additional programs as applicable/ Other duties as assigned

Skills:

· Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in a relevant field of study

· Must speak, read and write Uzbek and/or Russian with native-level proficiency / Fluency in English

· Minimum 1-2 years experience in education, educational management or administration, office administration, personnel management

· Outstanding time management, organization, and planning skills

· Proactive, independent, and flexible in task management and program implementation

· Demonstrated excellence in communication and multicultural interpersonal skills

· Well-developed knowledge of the education system in Uzbekistan and the United States at all levels

· Experience travelling under difficult conditions

· Flexibility to occasionally work on weekends and evenings

· Experience in budget management

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office software suite and common social media platforms
