The Data Manager is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and development of the school’s iSAMS Management Information System (MIS) app and other data platforms. The role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and security of all student and staff data while supporting school leadership with data analysis and reporting to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. The MIS Manager will manage the core information management systems of the school,  including the MIS (Management Information System), generating key reports for SLT,  Heads of Department, parents and students.  The core focus of this role is the application administration and strategic development of our information management systems (such as iSAMS, Salesforce, SQL Database and others), making the best use of the programs to support our Academic, Admissions and Business teams. The MIS Manager will be accountable for ensuring all users of the system are fully trained and processes are in place to maintain the integrity of the system.

Job duties:

Key Responsibilities:

1. iSAMS System Administration & Management

  • Manage, maintain, and configure the iSAMS MIS to ensure it meets the needs of the school.
  • Provide technical support, training, and guidance to staff on iSAMS functionalities and best practices.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and security settings.
  • Ensure system updates, patches, and backups are applied regularly.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to iSAMS.

2. Data Management & Reporting

  • Oversee the collection, input, and maintenance of student, staff, and academic data.
  • Develop and produce reports, dashboards, and analysis to support school operations, leadership decisions, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of all school data.
  • Manage statutory reporting, including census submissions and compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Support the development and automation of data processes to improve efficiency.

3. Staff Training & Support

  • Provide training sessions and user guides to staff on using iSAMS effectively.
  • Act as the primary contact for iSAMS-related queries and troubleshooting.
  • Work closely with academic and administrative teams to ensure data consistency and usability.

4. Compliance & Data Protection

  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and other data protection regulations.
  • Implement best practices for data security, access control, and backup procedures.
  • Liaise with external providers and regulatory bodies regarding data management policies and requirements.

5. Integration & Development

  • Support the integration of iSAMS with other school systems (e.g., finance, communications, and learning platforms).
  • Identify opportunities to optimize and enhance the MIS system.
  • Assist in the implementation of new technologies and data-driven solutions.

Skills:

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong experience with iSAMS or similar MIS platforms.
  • Excellent data management and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) is an advantage.
  • Understanding of school operations, academic structures, and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical users.
  • Knowledge of GDPR and data protection best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with school stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree in IT, Data Management, Education Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience managing iSAMS or other school MIS platforms.
  • Experience in an educational setting is desirable.
