Fellowship

Description

Teach for Uzbekistan Fellows will work as educators and mentors in under-resourced schools, helping to bridge the gap in quality education. Fellows will teach, inspire, and empower students while also engaging with the local community and developing their own leadership skills.

Job duties:

  • Teaching & Classroom Management – Deliver engaging lessons, create a positive learning environment, and adapt teaching methods to meet student needs.
  • Student Mentorship & Support – Guide and support students academically and personally, helping them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Curriculum & Lesson Planning – Develop lesson plans aligned with educational standards and adjust them based on student progress.
  • Community Engagement – Work with parents, school staff, and local communities to improve student learning outcomes and foster a supportive educational environment.
  • Professional Development – Participate in ongoing training, mentorship, and collaboration with other fellows to enhance teaching skills.
  • Data Tracking & Assessment – Monitor student performance, provide feedback, and use data-driven strategies to improve teaching effectiveness.
  • Educational Leadership – Lead extracurricular activities, workshops, or projects that contribute to school development and student engagement.

Skills:

  • Teaching & Communication Skills – Ability to explain concepts clearly, engage students, and communicate effectively in at least two of these languages: English, Russian, Uzbek.
  • Leadership & Initiative – Ability to lead a classroom, solve problems in under-resourced schools, and take initiative in implementing creative teaching methods.
  • Adaptability & Resilience – Willingness to work in remote or rural areas, adapt to different learning environments, and handle diverse student needs.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork – Ability to work with school staff, students, and community members while being open to mentorship and professional development.
  • Organizational & Time Management Skills – Managing lesson plans, classroom schedules, and balancing teaching responsibilities effectively.
  • Passion for Education & Social Impact – Strong commitment to educational equity and a desire to empower students in Uzbekistan’s education system
