Assistant Reinsurance Manager

Description

The successful candidate will support the reinsurance department in managing administrative tasks, data analysis, and communication between internal teams and external partners. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth execution of reinsurance operations and the accuracy of related documentation and reporting. This role offers exposure to both facultative and treaty reinsurance processes, cross-departmental collaboration, and the chance to develop a solid foundation in international (re)insurance practices.

Job duties:

  • Support the reinsurance team in the day-to-day coordination of reinsurance activities

  • Assist in the collection, organization, and validation of data related to premiums, claims, and exposures

  • Help with the preparation and review of reinsurance documents, reports, and summaries

  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely flow of information

  • Maintain and update internal records, databases, and tracking tools

  • Participate in the administration of reinsurance contracts and help monitor their execution

  • Contribute to the preparation of reports and presentations for internal use and external partners

Skills:

 Foundational Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of reinsurance concepts, including the difference between facultative and treaty reinsurance

  • Familiarity with insurance and reinsurance terminology (e.g., premium, limit, retention, claim, endorsement)

  • Willingness to learn about proportional and non-proportional structures

  • Interest in understanding how reinsurance supports risk management and capital protection

 Analytical & Technical Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with numerical data

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including functions, sorting, filtering, pivot tables a plus)

  • Basic experience or interest in data analysis using tools like Power BI or SQL

  • Ability to support in preparing reinsurance documentation, such as bordereaux, schedules, or summaries

 Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills (English required; additional languages an asset)

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, supporting senior reinsurance staff and collaborating with underwriting and finance teams

  • Willingness to engage with brokers and reinsurers under guidance

 Learning & Adaptability:

  • Eagerness to learn about international reinsurance markets and how reinsurance programs are structured

  • Flexible mindset, able to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities

  • Demonstrated problem-solving attitude and curiosity about the (re)insurance industry
